January 12 will mark the one year anniversary of Haiti’s tragic earthquake. Have you heard of Heart of Haiti (in partnership with Fair Winds Trading) ?
Willa Shalit (daughter of Gene Shalit- movie critic) brings unique designs made by the hands of Haitian artisans. Macy’s is the ONLY store selling this line of unique Haitian artistic goods.
These are one of a kind works of art and proceeds from the sale of these goods goes back into Haiti to provide better nutrition, education, and healthcare for the artisans and their families.
You’ll find a limited variety of fun colorful and bold elegant craftware for your home. Be sure to check out this line of beautiful goods and read how the pieces were made. What a great way to do more good with your next purchase: buy a unique handcrafted, certified piece from Haiti (for that next gift buying occasion) that also helps those IN Haiti!
One of my favorite Heart of Haiti pieces is this tray (not food safe). Each piece is handmade and there may be some variation because of this. The tray is made out of the steel of recycled barrels. You’ll also get a Certificate of Authenticity. See more by clicking on the image of the tray.
Disclosure: I was selected for this very special “CleverHaiti” opportunity by Clever Girls Collective, which endorses Blog With Integrity. All opinions are my own.
I will definitely be supporting that cause. I’ve been wanting to do something for Haiti every since the quake and this is my chance. Thanks for sharing this!
Over from the HHHop!
What a neat way to support Hatian artisans!
I really like the watermelon bowls that are in the picture and love that the money is going to help Haiti. I know a couple of people that have went down there in the last couple of months and know they could use all the help they can get! I will look for the bowls next time I go to Macys. Your blog looks pretty neat, I hopped over from Hip Homeschool Hop!
