As you know, my husband, Joel, has been assisting me with this series. Today’s post was written by him.
The Bible is not a science book. Right? Of course it isn’t. And actually, evolutionists would have you believe science and the bible can’t co-exist. After all, the earth is One-hundred-million-billion-zillion-katrillion years old, isn’t it? And of course, they can prove that right?
Hopefully, you heard my sarcasm in that last statement.
But God is actually no dummy, and science has actually had to catch up to things the Bible said quite a long time ago. Today we will look at some of those things.
11 Scientific Discoveries Revealed in the Bible before Modern-day Science
1 – My favorite comes from Isaiah 40:22 “It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth”… Yes, way before Columbus sailed the seas to find the new world (and everyone was telling him he was going to fall off the edge of it because back then they believed the world was FLAT) Isaiah told us back in 712 BC that the Earth was round.
2 – Job 26:7 “He… hangeth the earth upon nothing”. 1520 BC – Wow, look how far back we could have known that the Earth is on an orbital path suspended in space and not sitting on the back of a Giant Elephant or being held up by Atlas.
3 – Job 25:5 ” Behold even the moon, and it shineth not”... Again, 1520 BC Job knew somehow that the light at nighttime was not shining on its own, but was reflecting the light of the sun
4 – Psalm 8:8 … “whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.” In a song by David, he mentions paths in the seas. Anybody who has seen Pixar’s Finding Nemo should know about the East Australian Current – a legitimate super highway for fish and sea turtles.
5 – Leviticus 15:13 …”and bathe his flesh in running water, and shall be clean.” 1490 BC – God said to use running water when disinfecting. Look up Ignac Semmelweis’s discovery in 1847 and be amazed that it took that long for doctors to figure this out.
6 – Ecclesiastes 1:7 “All the rivers run into the sea: yet the sea is not full: unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again. “– 977 BC
7 – Job 36: 27-28 “For he maketh small the drops of water: they pour down rain according to the vapour thereof: Which the clouds do drop and distill upon man abundantly.” Combine these verses above and you have the water cycle. Why does the sea not flood when all rivers run into it? It’s called evaporation followed by condensation, and back again… See a picture of the Water Cycle here from Wikipedia.
8 – Jonah 2:6 “I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; “… 862 BC – Jonah was in the belly of a whale, which puts him in the ocean, and he said he went to the bottom and there were mountains down there.
9 – Genesis 15:5 In 1913 BC, God tells Abraham that the stars were innumerable. In 150 AD, scientists thought there were only 1,022, and at the very least believed you were able to count them all.
10 – Ecclesiastes 1:6 “The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the north: it whirleth about continually, and the wind returneth again according to his circuits.” This would be the definition of jet streams folks.
11 – Psalm 102:26-27 “Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands. They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment;” ... Entropy, the second law of thermodynamics, says the same thing… all things are breaking down, not getting better, as evolution would have you believe.
OK, that was fun. But the most important thing to note is how many years after God said it, that it was actually discovered by science. This alone should prove that the Bible is written by God.
Did Job have knowledge about the moon and Earth somehow before telescopes were invented in the 17th century? How did Solomon know about jet streams and the water cycle. Come on, we can’t even trust the weathermen today and they have doppler radar! How did Isaiah know the Earth was round? I’m pretty sure he was not the first man in space, where the view would be the best to make this kind of statement.
The Bible is not like any other book. And if the science in the Bible is true, then it stands to reason that when it talks about sin and judgment, it is also true.

It’s so true that the Bible is not like any other book. Maybe that is why it is always under fire by someone or some group who don’t want to accept its truth.
