I have often struggled with frustration about my working conditions here at home – as well as some other less than ideal situations about the condition of our old home that we didn’t realize we were going to have to deal with when we bought it.
Do you find yourself in this state of discontent at times, also?
I’m just sharing some thoughts in a more extended view here on the blog that I shared a short version of on Facebook earlier today.
While my dream workspace would be an office space at home with big windows and enough shelves to keep all my stuff together, organized in ONE location where I can find what I’m looking for quickly and I could shut a door and focus…
I will be thankful to have a three season sunroom (an enclosed porch, actually) with a high table and a great view (our yard with birds and bugs moving about) to share with the cats .
When we were looking for a “new” home 10 yrs ago I wanted an extra bathroom like a master bath. I didn’t get that either.
We did get this lovely sunroom, a gas fireplace in the living room that we enjoy, sidewalks for the boys to ride their bikes on when they were younger, a spacious yard for football throwing and tag games and great neighbors.
I believe we are where God wants us to be; but, my realization of late is that, I think, often what we think we need (and have justified reasons for wanting) we do not get because God wants us to learn to do our work within the inconveniences of our setting.
God says, be content.
“Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.” Philippians 4:11
“If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
But godliness with contentment is great gain.
For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.” I Timothy 6:3-8
What are you thankful for today?
Have you realized that being thankful and praising God for His goodness has the power to change our moods and uplift our spirits?
If you know Him, thank Him today for all He has given you. If you struggle for words, pray some of the Psalms back to Him.
thankful I found this page by pure accident, and I’m hoping to learn and grow with new ideas from here. I’m not a new homeschooler, but every child learns differently and with mine having autism it’s simply a challenge I accepted a long time ago. Now to forget summer vacation starts in a week from brick-and-mortar special needs schooling and realizing I am going to still be teaching wherever my children and I go. Make the most of the moment and grow with their interests as they happen. Hoping for inspiration
