At this time this book is free on Kindle, I grabbed it for myself. You can get the Kindle app here for certain devices, I have the free app on my pc and Android phone. However, a few months ago I bought the Amazon Fire tablet when it was on sale and I use that now to read my Kindle ebooks.
I have been working my way through this book lately on my tablet and find it very impressive. It appears the narrative interviews were published in the 1930s or 40s and so far, by former slaves or their descendants who relocated to Ohio after slavery was abolished.
While I am a history buff, being a resident of Ohio makes this book especially interesting to me. I even read an interview by a resident of my city in this book! Some interviews are written in the dialect (think “foe mammy vs. for mommy”) that these folks spoke in.
I highly recommend this book.
