This month as one of the Mom-Reviewers for Master Books I received The World of Animals (by My Father’s World & Master Books). This is a hard back “encyclopedia-like” book on what else…a “world of animals”!

The book is classified as Juvenile NonFiction/Science & Nature/General and MSRP is $24.99 (U.S.) but at the end of this post I’m going to tell you how you can have a chance to win one for yourself 😉 .

The book breaks down into 7 sections:

  • Simple Animals
  • Worms, Snails, & Starfish
  • Insects & other Arthropods
  • Fish
  • Amphibians & Reptiles
  • Birds
  • Mammals

At the back of the book there is a Glossary full of vocabulary words and an Index to find the page location of the exact animal you’re searching for and the color pages are beautiful!  As a side note, this book will be an awesome tool if you’re homeschooling and I’m already getting ideas for how to use it!

Here’s the description from the back of the book’s cover:

The World of Animals investigates and describes the anatomy, behavior, and habitats of over 1,000 animals. From microscopic worms and insects to reptiles, birds, and mammals, this book will provide children with an insight into the incredible range of life in God’s wonderful world.

This comprehensive but easy-to-use book boast a wide range of features to help bring its readers face-to-face with the science and beauty of the living world.”  It also states that it contains up-to date information on endangered species as well as  environments, obscure facts, animal records and amazing comparisons.

Below is a short video of my boys looking at the book and making comments. Brendan also had to count every leg on the “two-headed centipede” his desire:
