So there’s this mom in our homeschooling group (CHESCA) who makes these bea-u-t-i-ful cakes and I wanted to share her talent with you. And, I went a little crazy picking out pictures from her website and Facebook Page.
Her name is Erica Fill of Designs by E and she works out of her home. She and her husband have been homeschooling their children for six years now.
Anyways, I haven’t had the pleasure of eating any of them – yet, but I understand she can fill them with wonderful things like peanut butter, strawberry and raspberry filling made with REAL pb/fruit; mocha cream, mint buttercream, chocolate fudge and caramel too.
Erica makes cakes for birthdays, weddings, baby cakes and more. Besides the pictures at her website I linked to already – you’ll find that Baby Bump cake and many more at her Facebook page Designs by E.
About Erica
“I am a 1999 graduate of BGSU… I got my degree in Art Education. I taught art at Waterloo Primary for about 3 years before Josi came along, giving up my position 2 weeks before she was born. I guess I still kind of use my degree when I’m homeschooling. We have two girls – Jocelyn (Josi) is 10 and Mischa is 8. We’ve been homeschooling for six years.
“I’ve always been ‘artsy,’ so when Josi needed a first birthday cake I opted to make it myself…. buying a fancy cake wasn’t in the budget!! It just kind of took off from there. A few friends asked me to make cakes for them and here we are today.
I love doing weddings most, but birthday cakes are fun too. I like to work with chocolate and chocolate clay for details.”
I just wanted Erica to share a bit about herself.
Aren’t these cakes AH-mazing? I’m just blown away by her talent. If you’d love to have one of her cakes and you live in/near Stark County contact her.
Erica lives in Stark County (NE Ohio) and can be reached by email (designs.by_e@yahoo.com) .
I’ve ordered many of Erica’s cakes/cupcakes and let me tell you, they taste even better than they look. She has really worked hard on her cakes to tweak recipes and I’ve never tasted better cake than hers. I ordered a birthday cake one year for my son, and we shared some with our neighbor kids. They were all coming in and asking for seconds and commenting that it was the best cake they’d ever eaten. I don’t usually like cake, but Erica’s cakes are so good!
Those are some beautiful cakes! I love the jungle themed one and the use of those little spiral cookies! She is one talented lady and can do kid cakes to wedding cakes! I am impressed!
