Back to this series. I’ve got a lot to share today. I raise some additional questions that I won’t be able to really get into today in this post, but may deal with later so please consider subscribing here to get my posts emailed to you or sent to your RSS feed, you can also follow me on Facebook. And remember, this series is not a personal attack on anyone who uses other bible versions.
This week’s question is #33 from The Answer Book by Dr. Samuel Gipp…
“If the King James [Bible] is really perfect, how can so many preachers and scholars be wrong about it?”
Dr. Gipp’s answer is that … “The majority is ALWAYS wrong.”
He explains that Jesus points out the following biblical truth : that the majority of the population will not get saved according to Matthew 7:13,14.
“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”
He backs this up with the following examples straight from the bible…
- “The majority of people rejected Noah’s preaching and died in the flood.
- The majority of people perished in Sodom and Gomorrah.
- The majority of Israel worshipped Aaron’s calf in Exodus 32.
- The majority of Israel rejected the ministry of the prophets such Jeremiah.
- The majority of people rejected Jesus Christ during His earthly ministry.
- The majority of people alive today reject Jesus Christ as the Saviour of the world.
It would seem that throughout history, it has always been a small group of people who have had a heart soft enough to accept God’s revealed truth.”

The fact that the majority of Bible “scholars” and preachers reject the King James Bible is no surprise as we see from biblical history. And if there’s one thing we can and should learn from history its that history repeats itself! So you better be in the business of learning your history. That includes the history of your faith and your bible, because not all bible versions are equal. Some modern day versions leave out some of Jesus’ words, remove entire verses, and possibly all of them come from CORRUPTED Greek Text (compiled by Westcott & Hort in the 1800’s) and you don’t have to be ignorant of these things. The research, the information is out there. And its no secret that bibles sell and companies want to make money. But I’m getting way ahead of today’s post.
I want to leave you with some verses including the following command from Jesus Christ, himself …
And keep in mind, because Jesus IS God and the bible is God’s word- the whole bible IS Jesus’ words not just the ones printed in “red” ink. [For those who think otherwise, let me assure you, the bible teaches that God the Father, God the Holy Ghost or Spirit and God the Son, Jesus Christ- are all the one & the same God.]
“Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. He that loveth me not keepth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.” John 14:23-24 [emphasis mine]
“The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.” Psalm 12:6-7 [emphasis mine]
” As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him. For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God?” Psalm 18:30-31
“By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.” Psalm 33:6
“GOD, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in the time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds: Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all thing by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;” Hebrews 1:1-3
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to speak the truth. When people allow God to open their eyes to the truth, they shall know the truth and the truth shall set them free. Isn’t it wonderful to serve such an amazing God who stoops to use imperfect things sometimes such as abridged versions to reach those for whom He died…and even uses imperfect people like you and me! But oh, how rich and matchless is His word, as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times; perfectly preserved despite the plots and ulterior motives of kings and rebels alike.
The KJV bible was SUPPOSEDLY created because of the demand for books after the Gutenberg press arrived. The REAL reason is that King James wanted a bible produced that solidified the position of the Peerage over the Peasants. There was ALREADY an existing translation that was quite good (1599 edition). It was what the Pilgrim brought over on the Mayflower. There are numerous errors and subtle changes in the KJV as opposed to 1599. These changes without exception put the rights of the peasant into question against “authority” figures (knights, sheriff and even clergy). If you have an iPad you can look at at the two version side-by-side using YouVersion…
This series is not at all about a “thought” process regarding the KJV, its about the facts behind a movement rooted in evil which has been tearing down the deity of Christ and reliability of the pure Word of God.
You mention studying Hebrew and Greek. Well, the newer versions of the bible I’m referring to are from a corrupt Greek text devised in the 1880’s or thereabout by Westcott and Hort. There is much more to say about them and where they got there ideas.
I hope anyone following this series has a soft heart towards God and His truth-because this will be information you need to know. All bible believers today need to know about what is going on behind the question… why so many bible versions?
I got caught up in the KJV Only thought process, but then I started studying Hebrew and Greek. It’s not difficult to look at the original words, their definitions, and see that there are some discrepancies in the KJV. However, our salvation is not based on our interpretations…our salvation is in Christ. He doesn’t require us to pass a theological exam to be included in the Kingdom. No where in the bible do we ever see Jesus insisting on any particular version of the bible…and keep in mind that He ascended long before the printing press. No matter the version… keep in mind the fruit of the Spirit. Does our interpretations of the bible lead us to meekness, joy, love, peace, longsuffering etc? or are we being led to be proud? Arrogant? “my way is the right way”? Where is the humility, grace, and love in the discussions over which English version is “right”? Just a few things to think about.
Stick around for the series, Gail, and you’ll see where you are wrong on a number of your points. Don’t do it for me, do it for God and His Word 😉
I LOVE the King James Bible. Michael Pearl turned me on to it over 8 years ago and I have never looked back! I mostly use it when I quote Scripture on my blog. It is so rich.
Hooray for you! LOVE intentional and convicted blogging. I’m looking forward to reading more in this series from you.

It’s true that the majority of people can be dead wrong about something like salvation. But that doesn’t mean that every majority opinion is wrong. And you aren’t talking about the majority of the population when you say that the majority reject King James Only doctrine. You are talking about the majority of Bible-believing Christians throughout history, and the majority of Bible-believing Bible scholars.
There’s no Scriptural evidence that God would limit His Word to a single English version, and the non-Scriptural evidence supports the opposite: millions of Christians have been saved, encouraged, comforted and sanctified through the Words of other English versions.
King James English is poetic and beautiful, but it is also outdated and difficult to understand in places. It fit the language of it’s day–not the language of New Testament times–and not the language of today. There are no divine dialects or accents or languages. God uses language to speak to His people but He uses every language, even the out-dated language of the King James. We limit God when we think He prefers one version of His Word.
There are places in all versions (including the King James) that do not come as close to the original Greek and Hebrew when scrutinized by Bible-believing Greek and Hebrew scholars.
But none of these tiny inaccuracies affect the understanding or doctrines of our faith. The NASB is actually the most accurate to the Greek and Hebrew texts, but it is not the only divine version.
Are there some inaccurate versions? Yes, those that have been doctored by the cults.
Are there some less accurate versions? Yes, the paraphrases like the Living Bible and the Message and possibly other versions that are not mainline. But NIV and NASB and RSV and NLT and most other popular versions are equally accurate.
There’s nothing wrong with preferring a particular version, but feeling one version is the only choice typically creates a legalistic heart in people, makes them feel better than Christian who disagree with them, and side-tracks them from focusing on faith, hope and love, especially the greatest of these.
Thank you for the support, Lynn! I don’t get much on topics like this so I appreciate knowing there are people out there willing to say publically that they agree.
All I can say is Amen! and Amen! I always appreciate you speaking the truth unapologetically. Thanks Tracy!
