Yuval Zaliouk was a world renowned musical conductor (www.zaliouk.com) and for the past two decades has been the owner of Almondina.

Zaliouk’s company is based in Ohio and his Almondina (the Dina part was his Grandma’s name) biscuit type cookies (his Grandma Dina’s secret recipe) are sold in all 50 States and several foreign countries.

I don’t know if you’re familiar with Almondina biscuits/cookies (think “thin, light, crunchy”) – I was not before I had this opportunity to try them. I wasn’t sure I’d like them by just looking at a picture. Boy, were we in for a treat!

And, the background story is a treat too. The cookies are an old family secret. Grandma Dina called them Petit Gateau. They were later renamed for her Almondina (Dina).

They make a great treat – especially if you drink coffee. I think tea and hot cocoa would be good with them too and I read that go well with soft cheese! My husband and I both enjoyed this review opportunity.

Almondina’s are all-natural, have no added fat or salt, no cholesterol, no preservatives; and they come in many flavors.

The ones we sampled were:

Original, Sesame, Choconut, Chocolate Cherry, Cinnaroma, Almonduo and Gingerspice. I’d say Chocolate Cherry, Choconut and Gingerspice were some of my most favorite. Especially the Chocolate Cherry.

Almondina’s can be found in many stores, some of which are Fairway, Hy Vee, Giant Eagle, Brookshire, Mollie Stone’s, Hannaford, Jewel, Whole Foods, The FreshMarket, Walmart, Trader Joe’s, Cost Plus World Market, and TJ Maxx, Marshalls.
