Recently I was working behinds the scenes with Jill from Lake Erie Shores and Islands tourist bureau and Katrina from Miller’s Ferry on planning for a busy, busy review trip in the Sandusky, Ohio area.  Disclosure:  Our room and all necessary admission tickets, ferry and golf cart transportation were provided free of charge in exchange for my honest reviews. 

It all started when Miller’s Ferry invited us out to ride the ferry to experience a day on Put ‘n Bay (South Bass Island on Lake Erie). Jill was able to make our drive more worth our while by organizing a series of other review opportunities for us as well.  And the result is?…

The result is a FIVE part series on Sandusky family-fun beginning today on Hall of Fame Moms 🙂 .

It was just last weekend we did all of this.

We spent two nights at the new Maui Sands Resort (indoor waterpark), took Miller’s Ferry over to Put ‘n Bay on Saturday, rented a golf cart and did some fun things at Perry’s Cave Family-fun Center while driving around South Bass Island visiting some yard sales. On Sunday we visited the African Safari Wildlife Park, The Edison Birthplace, and Milan Historical Museum. Whew!

To begin with, I wanted to open up this series with some helpful information for anyone wanting to visit the Sandusky area. My first tip is to visit the Lake Erie Shores and Islands either online or in person. You can follow them on Facebook and Twitter too.

[That’s Jill in the picture above.]  They have staff to help at their physical location, some fun stuff to check out (like the canoe and a little roller coaster car), lots of brochures and information and just maybe some trinkets and gifts for the kids from local establishments.

The day we stopped by to pick up some info for our trip LESI had a bottle of grape juice for sampling (can’t remember the place it was from) and the boys got some head gear.
