This weekend I want to share a post and some free printables to help you study your bible correctly and efficiently, because we all miss things for one reason or another. When we don’t study and “rightly divide” God’s word we can end up in all sorts of trouble while at the same time thinking that we are pleasing and obeying God- when in fact, we are not.
As an introduction to what you will read in the printable, please thoughtfully read the following passage. All scripture I use is from the KJV.
I Peter 1:16-21
vs. 16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
vs. 17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
vs. 18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount. (Referring to the transfiguration of Christ in Matthew 17)
vs. 19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: (The sure word he speaks of is the Word of God, the bible.)
vs. 20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
vs. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
(Emphasis & blue notes, mine).
Not something to take lightly.
Studying your bible is not something you should take lightly and think you can just figure it all out in 10 minutes of reading and comparing scripture or by reading someone else’s commentary. I know life is fast paced but this is something we need to give ourselves permission to slow down with and approach prayerfully.
I want to give you 15 Factors of Bible Study. These 15 Factors will help keep you on track with asking the right questions and considering key information while you are studying your bible.
This is not an exhaustive list and it is adapted from this post.
Click here —> Free Printable: 15 Factors for Bible Study to download and print or save to your computer. Stick these pages in your bible study notebook. There is also a simple basic list on the last page if you care to print it out on card stock, cut down to bookmark size for carrying in your bible as a reminder. IF you do the latter, be sure you have the longer version too because it explains the factors.
